The short answer
Yes. Speak in English and the Translate style writes it in Thai, or any of the languages you pick. Names, numbers and dictionary words stay as they are.
Speak one language, write another
The Translate style takes what you say and writes it in the language you choose, ready to send. It is the same dictation you are used to: hold the key, talk, let go. The text simply arrives in a different language.
Setting it up
- Open Settings and find the app you want to translate in, such as WhatsApp or LINE.
- Choose the Translate style for it.
- Pick the language it should write in.
Other apps keep their usual styles, so you can translate in one chat app and write normally everywhere else.
What people use it for
- Customers and suppliers who prefer their own language.
- Colleagues abroad, so a quick reply does not need a translation tool and copy and paste.
- Family, in a language you speak well but type slowly, or in a script you cannot type easily.
- Practising a language: say it in your own words and see how it is written.
What stays the same
Names of people and companies, numbers, prices, dates and anything in your dictionary are kept as they are, so a translated message never turns "Siam Mills" into something else.
One-off translations
To translate a single message without changing your settings, dictate it as normal, select it, hold the rewrite keys (Right Ctrl + Shift) and say "in Thai", or any language. See Can it rewrite text I already typed?
