Can I see what the clean-up changed?

Yes. Every dictation in History shows what you said, with removed words struck through, next to what was written. Copy either version, or redo it in another style.

The short answer

Yes. Every dictation in History shows what you actually said, with the removed words struck through, next to what was written.

Where to look

  1. Click the Perfect Dictation icon in the tray and open History.
  2. Dictations are grouped by day, newest first. Open the one you want.
  3. You see two versions: what you said, and what was written.

Reading the comparison

It is a quick way to see what the clean-up does, and to build trust that it only tidies.

What you can do from there

ActionWhen it helps
CopyPaste the text somewhere else, or again
Redo in another styleIt should have been an email, not a chat message
Fix a wordA name came out wrong: teach it once
DeleteYou do not want it kept

Redoing a dictation in another style uses what you said, so you do not need to speak again, and rewrites never count as words.

Where this is stored

Both versions live in History on your PC only. We never keep your text or your audio on our servers. You can clear History in one click, or set it to keep only the last 30 or 90 days. See Do you keep my text?

Why seeing the difference helps

Comparing the two versions for a few days teaches you how to talk to Perfect Dictation. You will notice that pauses become commas and full stops, that "no, I mean" quietly disappears with the words before it, and that the style for each app shapes the result. Most people find they relax and talk more naturally once they see how much is tidied for them.

It is also the quickest way to spot a word that needs teaching: if the left side shows you said a name clearly and the right side still spells it wrong, add it to your dictionary.

Speaking speed for each dictation

History also shows how fast you spoke for each dictation, in words a minute. Over time you can see your pace settle, and your account page turns those figures into the time you have saved against typing.
