The short answer
Short phrases that expand. Say "my address" and your full address is typed, or "sign-off" for your usual ending. Snippets are typed exactly as you saved them.
Text you type again and again
Everyone has a handful of things they type over and over: an address, a phone number, a meeting link, a polite closing paragraph, an answer to a question customers always ask. A snippet saves that text once, under a short spoken name, so saying the name types the whole thing.
Making a snippet
- Open Settings and go to Snippets.
- Choose what you will say, such as "my address".
- Type or paste the text it should become, exactly as you want it.
- Save. It works straight away, and syncs to your other PCs.
Ideas
| Say | Types |
|---|---|
| "my address" | Your full postal address, on separate lines |
| "sign-off" | Your usual closing and name |
| "booking link" | The link to your calendar |
| "bank details" | The payment details you send to clients |
| "refund policy" | Your standard answer to a common question |
Exactly as saved
Snippets skip the clean-up entirely. Line breaks, capital letters, punctuation and links come out exactly as you saved them, which is why they are the right tool for fixed wording. For text that should change each time but follow a pattern, use your own style instead.
Pick names you would not say by accident
Choose snippet names that do not come up in normal speech. "Address" on its own might appear in an ordinary sentence; "my address" or "home address" is much less likely to.
