The short answer
Yes. Select the text, hold Right Ctrl + Shift and say how to change it: "friendlier", "shorter", "in Thai". The selection is replaced with the new version.
Rewrite anything, anywhere
Rewrite works on text that is already on your screen, whoever wrote it: an email draft you typed, a paragraph in a document, a reply you are not sure about. You do not need to copy it anywhere.
- Select the text you want changed.
- Hold Right Ctrl + Shift and say what you want.
- Let go. The selection is replaced with the new version.
Things to say
| Say | What it does |
|---|---|
| "Make it friendlier" | Warmer tone, same content |
| "Shorter" | Cuts it down, keeps the point |
| "Fix the grammar" | Corrects mistakes, changes little else |
| "More formal" | Suitable for a client or a manager |
| "Turn this into bullet points" | One idea per line |
| "In Thai" or "in Spanish" | Translates the selection |
| "Explain it more simply" | Plainer words for a non-expert |
Changed your mind?
Press Ctrl + Z in the app to undo the replacement and get your original text back, as you would after any edit.
It is free
Rewrites never count towards your words, on any plan, including free. Only new dictation counts. See What counts as a word?
Changing the rewrite key
If Right Ctrl + Shift clashes with another program, choose a different rewrite key in Settings, alongside the talk key.
