The short answer
Yes. Describe it in plain words, like "keep it under three short sentences, no greeting", give it a name, and use it for any app you want.
When your own style helps
The built-in styles suit most people. Your own style is for when you write the same kind of thing often and want it a particular way: replies to customers in a set tone, notes in a fixed format, messages to one client in American spelling, or posts that always end with a question.
Making one
- Open Settings and go to your styles.
- Give it a short name, such as "Support reply" or "Patient letter".
- Describe what you want in plain words, as you would brief a colleague.
- Save it, then choose it as the style for any app you like.
Good descriptions
Be specific about length, tone, format and anything to avoid. Some examples:
- "Friendly and short, no more than three sentences, no greeting, no sign-off."
- "Formal British English for a letter to a patient. Plain words, no jargon."
- "Turn what I say into bullet points, one idea per line, no full stops."
- "Write it as a commit message: a short summary line, then a blank line, then details."
- "Polite reply to a customer. Start with thanks, keep it under 80 words, American spelling."
What a style cannot do
A style shapes how your words are written. It cannot add facts you did not say: the same rule applies as for the built-in styles, so it will not invent prices, dates or names to fill a template. If you want fixed wording, such as an address or a standard closing paragraph, use a snippet instead.
It follows you
Your own styles sync to every PC you sign in on, along with your dictionary and snippets, and your account page lists them. Every plan, including the free one, can make styles.
