The short answer
If the app crashes it sends the type of error, where in the app it happened, the app version, your Windows version and how long it had been running. Never what you said, your text or your History.
Why we collect them
Most people never report a crash: the app restarts and they carry on. Crash reports tell us about problems we would otherwise never hear of, so we can fix them for everyone, often before anyone notices.
Exactly what a report contains
| Sent | Example |
|---|---|
| Type of error | A null reference |
| Where in the app | The part of our code that failed |
| App version | 0.9.25 |
| Windows version | Windows 11 |
| How long it had been running | 3 hours |
The error message and the list of places in our code are cleaned before they are sent, so they cannot carry anything personal.
What a report never contains
- What you said, or any text.
- Your History, dictionary or snippets.
- The contents of any window.
- Your files.
Switching them off
Crash reports are on by default, because they help everyone. Switch them off in the app's Settings at any time; nothing else changes.
