The short answer
Open the Microsoft Store, search for Perfect Dictation and click Get, or use the download page. It installs in under a minute with no setup wizard.
Installing
- Go to the download page and click Download for Windows, or open the Microsoft Store app and search for "Perfect Dictation".
- Click Get (or Install). The Store downloads and installs it, usually in under a minute.
- Click Open, or find Perfect Dictation in the Start menu.
First run
- Sign in with Google. The app shows a short code and opens the website. Sign in there, check the code matches, and confirm. That PC now has its own key.
- Allow the microphone when Windows asks.
- Try it: click into any text box, hold Right Ctrl, talk, and let go.
Why the Microsoft Store
- No administrator rights: it installs for your Windows user only.
- Automatic updates: the Store keeps it current in the background.
- Clean uninstall: it removes itself completely, like any Store app.
- Checked by Microsoft before every release.
Is it free?
Yes. The app is free in the Store, and the free plan gives you every feature with 2,000 words a week on one PC. Paid plans are bought on this website when you want unlimited words or more PCs. See Is the app free?
On a work PC where the Store is switched off, see My work PC blocks the Store.
