Plans and billing

The plans and how billing works: what the free plan includes, what counts as a word, when free words reset, fair use, switching plans, cancelling, refunds and who charges your card.

What is the difference between plans?

Only how many words and how many PCs. Every feature is on every plan, including styles, translation, snippets and the dictionary.

Free: 2,000 words a week on 1 PC. Pro ($7.99 a month) and Annual ($69 a year): unlimited words on 3 PCs. Annual 5 PCs ($99 a year): unlimited on 5 PCs.

Is the app free?

Yes. The app is free in the Microsoft Store and the free plan never expires: 2,000 words every week on 1 PC, with every feature.

Paid plans are bought on this website, not in the Store, and you can upgrade any time from your account page.

What counts as a word?

The words in the text written for you, after clean-up. Fillers that were removed are never counted.

Rewrites are free: redoing a dictation in another style, or rewriting selected text, does not use your words.

When do free words reset?

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC (07:00 in Bangkok). The app and your account page both show how many you have left this week.

What happens after 2,000 words?

Nothing is lost. New clips wait safely on your PC and send themselves on Monday when your words reset, or straight away if you upgrade.

Is there a fair use limit?

Paid plans include 40 hours of speaking a month, about two hours every working day, which is far more than almost anyone uses. Your account page shows how much you have used.

It only exists to stop automated or shared use of one account.

Can I switch from Pro to Annual?

Yes. Buy Annual from your account page and Pro stops at the end of the month you have already paid for, so you are never charged twice.

Moving from Annual 3 PCs to 5 PCs later only costs the difference for the rest of your year.

How do I cancel?

From Plan and billing on your account page. You keep unlimited words until the end of the month or year you paid for, then go back to Free. Nothing more is charged.

Change your mind before then and you can keep your plan with one click.

Who charges my card?

Perfect Dictation is made by DeveloperData.net in Bangkok, so charges appear on your statement as DEVELOPERDATA.NET.

If you do not recognise a charge, the charge lookup tells you which product it was for.

Can I get a refund?

The free plan is the trial, so there are no automatic refunds. If something went wrong, ask through the refunds page and a person replies.

Do you store my card?

No. Stripe takes the payment and keeps the card. We only see that you paid, the amount and which plan.
